This meandering trail follows the shore of Pine Lake for 6.4 km. The trail starts at the Pine Lake Day Use Area and leads to the Kettle Point Group Camp. The Lakeside Trail has a connecting path to the more difficult Lane Lake Trail.
The Rainbow Lake Trail leads to the shore of Rainbow Lake. This peaceful solution sinkhole lake is surrounded by spruce trees and features a quiet backcountry camping site. The trail is suitable as a day hike and follows a cutline from Pine Lake Road.
The South Loop is a 9-km trail that starts across the road from the Salt River Day Use Area. Hikers will encounter open meadows, small prairies and peaceful forest. Grosbeak Lake is the trail highlight, featuring boulder-strewn salt flats.
The Lane Lake Trail is a rugged, 13-km hike that leads through boreal forest, past a chain of small sinkhole lakes to Lane Lake. The trail head is located on Kettle Point Road, 1 km past the Pine Lake access road.
The Sweetgrass Trail leads from the Sweetgrass Landing backcountry campsite on the south bank of Peace River to the historic Sweetgrass Station. The unmarked 12-km trail follows an overgrown cutline through forest. Bison are sometimes seen on this trail--keep a safe distance. Hikers on this trail should be sure to bring insect repellent.
