This meandering trail follows the shore of Pine Lake for 6.4 km. The trail starts at the Pine Lake Day Use Area and leads to the Kettle Point Group Camp. The Lakeside Trail has a connecting path to the more difficult Lane Lake Trail.
The Sweetgrass Trail leads from the Sweetgrass Landing backcountry campsite on the south bank of Peace River to the historic Sweetgrass Station. The unmarked 12-km trail follows an overgrown cutline through forest. Bison are sometimes seen on this trail--keep a safe distance. Hikers on this trail should be sure to bring insect repellent.
This 750-m trail traverses volatile karst terrain, through a sunken valley, a "drunken forest" full of tilting trees, and past sinkholes. The first part of the trail is wheelchair accessible. Look out for red-sided garter snakes in early spring.
The trail head for this 7.5-km loop is located at the Salt River Day Use Area. The gentle trail leads past sinkholes, fossil outcrops and the Keg River geological formation to the top of an escarpment and views of Salt Pan Lake.
The Lane Lake Trail is a rugged, 13-km hike that leads through boreal forest, past a chain of small sinkhole lakes to Lane Lake. The trail head is located on Kettle Point Road, 1 km past the Pine Lake access road.
