Visit the Angus Day Use area for a picnic, a stroll, the children's playground and the park's largest sinkhole. The Angus Sinkhole is 100 m across and 60 m deep and was formed when the roof of an underground cave collapsed. The Angus Day Use Area is located near the park's northern boundary along Highway 5.
Found on the eastern bank of the Slave River, the unique salt plains cover a 250 sq km area in the Slave River Lowlands. The vast patches of salt are created by underground springs, which transport salt from below. The plains support plants normally only found in marine environments and are a prime habitat for bison and waterfowl. Visitors can view the expansive salt deposits from the Salt Plains Viewpoint off Highway 5. A short trail and interpretive exhibit are accessed at the viewpoint.
